2010 Power Pledge
Ontario’s 2010 Power Pledge Conservation Awareness Campaign

Ontario’s major 2010 Conservation Awareness Campaign - The Power Pledge - will launch on April 7. The province-wide energy conservation awareness campaign will encourage Ontarians to take simple conservation actions that will have lasting financial rewards and help fight climate change.

The primary focus will be on phantom power - that invisible energy waster that adds up to15 percent on residential electricity bills. Five other simple, meaningful actions Ontarians can take will also form The Power Pledge.

The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) is teaming up with WWF-Canada for the five-month campaign to encourage sustainability by getting Ontarians to think beyond “Earth Hour” to every hour of the day and every day of the week.

By taking the Power Pledge, Ontarians will earn 20 Air Miles Reward Miles and an additional 10 AIR MILES Reward Miles will be donated to a participating charity.

Last summer’s conservation awareness campaign concluded with a Community Challenge Day in which 83 municipalities (representing about 56 percent of Ontarians) vied for top honours by seeing who could gather the most conservation pledges and reduce their electricity consumption the most.

The 2010 The Power Pledge Challenge Day, supported by over 100 communities, will take place on Wednesday, August 11th.
