Background The Grant Award
Committee is responsible for is responsible for approving all grants and ensures
that projects submitted are evaluated fairly, consistently and impartially.
Proposals that meet
the objectives and criteria requirements of the Technology Development Fund are
recommended for consideration by the Grant Award Committee.
The Committee must
present results and status of all grant funds to the Board of Directors on an
annual basis. The Grant Awards
Committee also reviews the OPA's Conservation Fund. Biographies Colin Andersen Colin Andersen was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) in September 2008. Prior to joining the OPA, Mr. Andersen held a variety of senior financial and policy positions in the Ontario Public Service. Most recently, he was Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Finance; Secretary of Treasury Board; Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Revenue; Chair of the Ontario Financing Authority and Chair of the Ontario Electricity Financial Corporation. He has also served as Deputy Minister of Policy, Cabinet Office and Acting Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. In these and other senior management positions, Mr. Andersen provided the government with advice and assistance on all aspects of fiscal and financial policy and planning, expenditure management and overall stewardship of the financial resources of the province. This included playing a lead role in strategic asset management initiatives, extensive intergovernmental negotiations at the federal and municipal level and large-scale infrastructure and procurement projects. Mr. Andersen has a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary.
Paul Shervill Paul Shervill joined the Ontario Power Authority in May 2005. As Vice President, Conservation and Sector Development he is responsible for conservation program operations, the Conservation and Technology Development Funds and for supporting the transition to more competitive electricity market structure. Paul holds an Honours B.A. and a Master of Engineering (Environmental), from the University of Western Ontario. In joining the OPA, Paul furthers a 30-year career which includes both public and private sector energy industry experience. His public sector career included the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Transportation and culminated in the position of Executive Coordinator, Programs and Technology with the Ministry of Energy. Paul has been active in the small business community and served as President of the Chatham and District Chamber of Commerce in 1996/97. He has been a member of the Canadian Gas Association’s Standing Committee on Sustainable Growth and the American Gas Association’s Strategic Marketing Committee. He is currently also a member of the Advisory Board to the Ontario Centre of Excellence in Energy.
Joanne Kviring Joanne Kviring is currently the Director for the National Grants Program at SickKids Foundation, the largest non-governmental granting agency in child health in Canada. She previously held grantmaking roles with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and RBC Financial Group and has a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University. Joanne is a Founding Partner and member of the Leadership Committee of Social Venture Partners Toronto, a collaborative network which invests time, expertise and money in nonprofits; chairs a community investment panel for the United Way of Greater Toronto and is also an active volunteer with the Framework Foundation's annual Timeraiser event, which empowers young Canadians to help build stronger communities. |
